Supporting phonics at home

At Queen Eleanor, phonics is a central part of how we teach pupils to read. Being able to “crack the code” of turning letters into sounds, then blending sounds together to make words is a vital skill in being an independent reader. We use the popular Read, Write Inc. scheme for teaching phonics. These short videos produced by Read, Write Inc. explain how the programme is structured, how it is taught and what can be done at home to help your child learn phonics as the key to reading fluently and accurately.
