Staff Wellbeing

At Queen Eleanor Academy, staff wellbeing is not an initiative — it’s a commitment. A commitment to building a professional culture where every adult feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. We know that when our staff feel seen, heard, and trusted, they are empowered to do their best work — and when that happens, our students reap the rewards.

We are proud to be part of the Creative Education Trust, where the values of Ambition, Equity, and Opportunity shape everything we do — not just for pupils, but for the professionals who serve them.

A Culture of Trust, Respect, and Growth

We are a school that is changing — and that change is built on credibility, consistency and compassion. At Queen Eleanor, staff are trusted to lead, given space to grow, and supported through coaching, collaboration, and shared excellence. We don’t ask for perfection — we ask for purpose. If it’s purposeful, we’ll support it.

We know that professional wellbeing comes from being treated as a person, not a number. It’s about:

  • Feeling safe and supported in your working environment
  • Having your voice heard and your ideas respected
  • Access to high-quality professional development that’s relevant and empowering
  • Clarity of expectation and consistency of leadership
  • Opportunities to innovate, to collaborate, and to lead
  • A culture where your life outside of work matters too

We foster strong relationships and shared purpose, where we support one another through challenge and celebrate together in success.

Professional Development with Purpose

Our approach to CPD is grounded in coaching, collaboration and classroom relevance, not top-down compliance. We offer:

  • Personalised coaching for all teaching staff
  • Regular peer collaboration and shared planning time
  • Access to leadership pathways for aspiring leaders
  • CPD that links directly to our curriculum, our pedagogy, and our culture

Every adult at Queen Eleanor is encouraged to keep growing — whether they’re in their first year or their fifteenth.

Practical Support for Wellbeing

We recognise that wellbeing isn’t just about what happens in the classroom — it’s about the whole person. That’s why we take practical, proactive steps to support staff health and happiness, including:

  • Open-door leadership and strong pastoral support for staff
  • Joint Practice Development because we believe everyone has the right to excellent and individualised Professional Development.
  • Leadership at All Levels – because all staff are valued and have a key part to play in delivering excellence, our leadership is not hierarchical, it thrives and grows on the premise that all staff matter.
  • Flexible and compassionate responses to individual circumstances
  • Regular staff voice surveys — and visible action in response
  • Protected PPA
  • A culture that respects family life and encourages work-life balance
  • Celebrating success, recognising hard work, and taking time to laugh

We know that teaching and school leadership are deeply rewarding — but also demanding. That’s why we work hard to remove barriers, reduce unnecessary workload, and build a team culture where nobody feels they’re doing it alone. And yes, we do also sometimes bring in cakes and doughnuts, because sometimes, that’s what we all need!

More Than a Job — A Place to Thrive

Queen Eleanor Academy is more than a place to work — it’s a place to grow, to belong, and to make a difference. We are restoring pride, rebuilding trust, and creating a school that puts people first — students and staff alike.

We don’t pretend everything is perfect — but we do promise that everything we do is intentional. If you're looking for a place where your wellbeing matters, your ideas count, and your purpose is shared — you’ll find it here.
